This unit of work was designed for an end of year project for National 4 pupils. It includes some activities that are not so focused on languages.
Through this unit, pupils will discover the different main characters of the comics and their traits of personality. They also look at Belgium and some facts about the country. Toward the end, they will get to stage a picture from the comic (laughs guaranteed) and create a display board to promote languages and French speaking countries for your department. Finally, they will watch the film ‘Les Aventures de Tintin - Le Secret de la Licorne’ if you want to tie in the project nicely. You can also choose to show the TV series episodes instead.
The lessons are the following:
Lesson 1: discover characters (fully in French), and answer questions.
Lesson 2: Look at the film trailer and ‘costumes’, revisit clothing items.
Lesson 3: Research task on Belgium, Ipads or computers required.
Lesson 4 and 5: Create props for Tintin challenge and take picture.
Lesson 6 and 7: Create display board
Lesson 8,9,10: Watch the film ‘Les Aventures de Tintin’
EDIT: I added PDF versions as well, in case the layout gets too messed up when you download. Fully editable material remains available :)
Slides should have teacher’s notes in the Note section of the main presentation, however, I’m not the best at explaining so if you have any questions, get in touch! :)

These two articles explain the meaning of ‘etre un Tanguy’, an expression still widely used in France to talk about people staying with their parents after a certain age.
The video is from Youtube, I used it as an introduction to the topic.
The PPT has questions that candidates can attempt to write about then discuss out loud to practice conversation skills.

Languages in the booklet are : English-French-Romanian. (can be easily adapted to suit other languages)
I don’t speak Romanian myself and I used google translate to do the Romanian part. Feel free to amend any mistakes!
Two Guess Who games to practise physical descriptions.
In addition, one board has countries of residence and nationalities.
The other one has siblings, pets and personal qualities.
This short unit of work was designed for a ‘personal choice’ class. Hence why it’s not so language oriented.
This resource includes a pupil booklet with activities, a teacher booklet with answers/possible extensions/ideas on how to introduce each activity, and videos relevant to some activities.
Blindtest was found on youtube, DM for credits! (not my own work)
Any question/problem, just get in touch :)
