A unit of work based on the new AQA GCSE, English Language Paper Two, Section B: Writing. The powerpoint contains contemporary materials/resources (Beyonce's lyrics/videos, Michael Brown shooting media coverage, the War on Drugs propaganda) that encourage debate and lively discussion over the issue of modern day racism in America. The project styled unit contains cultural, legal and political case studies; it eventually culminates in a writing to argue piece.

An introduction to a scheme of work on the Gothic Genre covering about 3-4 lessons. The lessons use clips from horror films to explain the various Gothic elements. There is also opportunity to explore the context of Horror films across history.

A fun lesson to use during any form of 'careers' week. Looks at celebrities who have a degree in English and potential career paths, before focusing on journalism. There is a little section that teaches the active and passive voice and then there is an opportunity for the students to create their own headlines.
