The task is for the children to see how many words they can find in the words ‘spring’ and in ‘sunshine’. They place their words in the ‘mini’ crosswords.
They choose 2 and add clues. They can then ask their friends to fill in the crossword.
Please note the ‘master’ sheets contains words which are NOT in the Collins English Dictionary.
Something a little different to try,
There are also 2 Spring word searches.
I found on Wikipedia 5 free simple poems about snow. To those I have added a vocabulary of rhyming words (large), a vocabulary and phrase page and a poetry aid. The pictures could be used separately.
These might help the children with their creative writing during these cold snowy days. Let them try their sledges first!
C. S. Lewis, Clive Staple Lewis, Jack to his friends wrote more than 30 books. He is most famous for his The Chronicles of Narnia, a series of seven books written for children. The children visit the magical land of Narnia where Aslan, the Lion reigns. He takes the Pevensie children on a series of adventures where good eventually always over comes evil.
To go with the series I have created seven sets of crosswords and word searches, answers included.
HarperCollinspublishers have produced an excellent pop-up book to go with the series of seven books - Narnia Chronology -from the Archives of the Last King. ISBN 9780061240058
Wlkiepedia has a great deal of information about C.S. Lewis - biography notes and detailed book summaries (2 levels) about each of the books.
William Carey is regarded by many as the founder of the modern missionary movement and as one of the most important church missionaries in world history. He believed in going to the heathen not waiting for God to do it. 'Expect Great Things- Attempt Great Things.'
He began life as a cobbler. After he was converted he taught himself New Testament Greek. He spent 50 years as a pastor/minister. He founded the Baptist Missionary Society. He spent 40 whole years in India, not having a furlough. He was responsible for the Bible being translated into all the major languages of the Indian subcontinent and many dialects and wrote a number of books. In 1818 William Carey and the Marshmans founded Scrampore college - today it offers theological and liberal arts education for some 2,500 students.
The powerful, and now famous book , 'An Enquiry into the obligations of Christians to Use Means for the Conversion of Heathens' - along with many others, can be found, in full, on the internet.
I have found several pieces of useful information. There is a chronology of his life, a short, readable, history of his life, plus a short crossword and word search. A 'typical day' reveals he must have used at least SIX different languages on that one day!!
There is a vast amount of information about William Carey on the internet. God's extraordinary 'plodder' changed the course of history.
