In this activity, students will complete the Federal Budget Challenge. This challenge is an internet activity that can be found at Federal Budget Challenge. Students will be learning how complex and difficult the process of governmental budgeting is and the scope of the United States spending. This activity includes the necessary link to access the challenge and also five response questions to challenge students thinking and reasoning. This activity is designed to be used with computers and/or tablets. Students can complete individually, in small groups, or as a class depending on available computer resources. This documentary movie was created by ESPN and is part of their 30 for 30 series. The film shows the impacts and reasons behind the large number of millionaire athletes declaring bankruptcy and becoming “broke.” This film is an excellent resource to use in an Economics, Personal Finance, Financial Management, and or Financial Literacy course. This product is a two page document of ten questions pertaining directly to the film while encouraging students to analyze the film and the choices presented within it. They are: Debt Test - Students answer questions to test their knowledge about debt. Money Quiz - Students complete a quiz about personal finance. Financial Services - Students complete questions about financial services. Video - Students watch a brief video about Warren Buffet and borrowing money The webquest guides students through a variety of websites about loans, borrowing money, and debt.
