Effects & Management of Tectonic Hazards AQA Geography

(0)
Complete lesson for Geography GCSE AQA 9-1, Section A The Challenge of Natural Hazards 3.1.1.2 Effects and management of tectonic hazards Includes presentation, worksheets, case studies and lesson plan. This lesson is designed to introduce KS4 (year 10 - 11) students to the topic ‘The effects and management of tectonic hazards’. The lesson is suitable for all abilities, and should take around 1 hour to complete. Through this 1 hour lesson students are introduced to the effects of tectonic hazards and some common techniques employed to mitigate them. Through a series of activities students explore primary and secondary effects of tectonic hazards and how monitoring, prediction, protection and planning can reduce the risks from a tectonic hazard. By the end of this lesson students will be able to: Give examples of the effects of, and responses to, a tectonic hazard varying between areas of contrasting levels of wealth. Differentiate between primary and secondary effects of a tectonic hazard. Explain how monitoring, prediction, and planning can reduce the risks from a tectonic hazard.

Complete lesson for Geography GCSE 9-1: Tectonic Hazards (AQA 3.1.1.2 Section A) - Plate Boundaries. Includes presentation, worksheets and lesson plan. The lesson is suitable for all abilities, and should take around 1 hour to complete. This lesson is designed to introduce KS4 (year 10 - 11) students to the topic of plate boundaries. Through a series of activities students explore the different types of plate boundary (contructive, destructive and conservative) and investigate the relationship between plate boundaries and earthquakes and volcanoes. By the end of this lesson students will be able to: Name and describe three different types of plate boundary Explain the relationship between plate boundaries and earthquakes and volcanoes Identify areas of the world with a high concentration of earthquakes and volcanoes, including the Ring of Fire

Structure of the Earth AQA Geography

(8)
Complete lesson for Geography GCSE 9-1 Tectonic Hazards (AQA 3.1.1.2 Section A) The Structure of the Earth. Includes presentation, worksheets and lesson plan. This lesson is designed to help KS4 (year 10 - 11) students understand the struture of the Earth and tectonic plates theory. The lesson is suitable for all abilities, and should take around 1 hour to complete. Through a series of activities students explore the different layers of the Earth, convection currents in the mantle and tectonic plates. By the end of this lesson students will be able to: ● Name and describe the different layers of the Earth’s structure ● Name the major plates ● Explain how convection currents in the mantle cause tectonic activity

Natural Hazards AQA Geography GCSE

(0)
Complete lesson for Geography GCSE 9-1: The challenge of natural hazards (AQA 3.1.1 Section A), includes presentation, worksheets and lesson plan. This lesson is designed to introduce KS4 (year 10 - 11) students to the topic ‘The Challenge of Natural Hazards’. The lesson is suitable for all abilities, and should take around 1 hour to complete. Through a series of activities students build on their learning from KS3. Students explore the definition of a natural hazard and recap the various types of natural hazards (including both climatic and tectonic hazards - volcanoes, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, droughts etc.). Students are also challenged to consider different factors which can affect the risk level of natural hazards., such as population growth, urbanisation, education and so on. By the end of this lesson students will be able to: ● define a natural hazard, ● name and describe a variety of natural hazards, and ● explain how different factors might increase or decrease the risk posed by the event of a natural hazard.
