Overview of unit:
Students will read literature from writers of colour, exploring their experiences in various contexts.
Through exploring the experiences of various fictional and real people of colour, students will understand ideas about identity, race and culture, and explore their own biases.
Students will read a range of fiction and non-fiction texts to explore the presentation of mental health in literature. Through discussing difficult ideas, students will learn the power of empathy and understand that mental health isn’t a taboo subject.
