Starter - Students start thinking about a factor which may affect KE
Main -Allow students to think of the other factor which affects KE, then introduce the formula, some worked examples and then the opportunity for students to complete a worksheet (answers included, rearranging opportunities on the sheet). Then moved on to elastic energy, worked examples and then a worksheet for the students to complete. Finally a small practical looking at the energy in an elastic band
Plenary - 6 questions on the material covered in the topic so far, answers are in the notes.

Using ramps and cars the students plan their investigation using the planning sheet, and then carry out the investigation. This can all be done in one lesson.
I then set them the task of writing up the investigation (using the level ladder) as homework, but could be done in a subsequent lesson
