Excellent interactive lesson for KS3 on reasons and causes of the abolition of the slave trade in 1807.
Interactive starter with links to modern day - something everyone will have held in their hand but wont have realised the reason (great debate point)
Keywords
Card sort activity in teams (categories on the wall, sort cards into the appropriate one - very interactive and looks great to an observer!)
Extension task sorting factors that lead to abolition into actions by blacks and whites
3 Step assessment - excellent summative assessment strategy that guides progress
Homework or plenary task that allows students some options or a very nice and successful strategy for the teacher to guide differentiation.
A well designed resources that aims to embed knowledge securely.
The lesson:

Interact with current knowledge to create a flow diagram of the creation of the Chinese Republic in 1911.
Rank and explain the issues facing China: Yuan Shikai and the disintegration of China
Information race about Yuan Shikai’s time in power 1912-16.

Further reading task with an article included.
Some tasks refer to textbook pages (Cambridge International AS Level, International History 1870-1945 by David Williamson). This could be substituted for another textbook or online resources.
I think it is a well structured lesson that progresses through the content well. Any feedback welcome.
Enjoy!
