Revision task - I am using this week as we go back after Easter -to get students to recap learning so far - they enjoy these tasks are they are competitive and also they like sense they can remember lots
We will do a box game and a make the most expensive sentence before this so they are not going in cold straight off
They have to translate to make one side of the box - if they close a box, they get to put their initials in and see who finishes first - can do in 2s or 3s
Made as powerpoint to make it easier for students to complete and return in lockdown
Short activities to consolidate the key elements of giving/asking for directions - based on Stimmt 2 chapter 4
Could copy and paste each activity onto a word document, if easier
Retrieval task on subjects, Time activities, sentence builder on subjects, tangled translation, tile translation - Great re-introduction to the school section of theme 3
Sentence builder
Activities such as gap fill, bad translation, jumbled sentence to re-order, templates for Conti sentence stealer, delayed dictation and mind reader and then tangled translation that touches upon earlier school uniform and location
Good revision task for school
Recap on present tense endings, common irregulars, spot the mistake on WW2 topic in A level Edexcel and Eduqas spec, and translation task with mark scheme and suggested answers
50 minute lesson
Students must 1st translate the chunks and then colour them according to some given categories - 30 minutes approx
Answers given to save marking - students can mark their own
Assessment questions, success criteria, sample answer to identify criteria and use as template
Activity to match alternative answers with translations to questions for lower ability groups
We have sets of Jenga with ends numbered 1-48 - This is the template of questions, answers for the team judge and the record sheet
Each unit has two games so that judge also plays
This is for Stimmt 2 - chapter 2 and is mainly on books and films/tv but also odd questions on chapter 1 as retrieval and key time phrases and connectives/intensifiers.
My classes love this game
Brain dump on start of chapter
Delayed dictation template following translation page on uniform pros and cons
Tangled translation on uniform - task and answers in French and English
Match up of imperfect verbs
Tile translation using these verbs with sentence ends
Gap fill on text, to translate when complete
Answer slides if want to give for revision
Pyramid translation activity - done in 3s to practise vocabulary recognition of chapter 2 stimmt 1, and to give students a model answer frame for their writing assessment on this unit
I give this and the vocabulary pages at the end of the chapter
Reading task - students look at the three versions of the text, they highlight the changes in each text and translate into english under each text - approx 20-30 minutes work, depending on ability
Small sentence builder - what would you definitely/never/maybe do, with simple added opinion - In my opinion that would be…
Bad translation activity, gap fill activity and unjumble activity based on the sentence builder
Then gapped translation of katarina’s text from page 55 (no text included) for lower ability students
Tile translation to put the segments into a writing - enough for 1 hr lesson
(I will also do listening on page 54 and speaking from the pages in class)
