This is an assembly for teaching children about Lent. It is suitable for ages 5-11. The theme is ‘giving something up’ and it is based on a Bible story about Jesus. The 4 page pdf assembly plan is highly interactive, with plenty of opportunity for volunteers to take part or give answers or ideas. It includes questions to ask the children with answers. There is an introduction, a discussion, a Bible story, a further discussion and a final prayer/reflection. I have also included a 19 slide PowerPoint presentation which gives details about Lent, includes the bible story from the plan and questions for discussion. (This is non-editable. This is a set of three lesson plans to teach children about the fun Jewish holiday of Purim. It is suitable for ages 4-7. The plans are very detailed (9 pages plus resources). These lessons could be taught at any time of the year. Lesson 1 contains a brief overview of Judaism and Purim. Lesson 2 focuses on the story of brave Queen Esther. Lesson 3 teaches the children about how Jewish people celebrate Purim. Each lesson starts with a carpet session. The children then split into five groups for activities. These include drawing, storytelling, dressing up and crafts. Across the three lessons the children have the opportunity to do all of the activities. The plans could be combined into one lesson with the children only doing one or two activities. There are three differentiated levels of objectives. There is an optional 18 slide PowerPoint to accompany the lessons which tells the story of Queen Esther and how Jewish people celebrate Purim. (This is non-editable.
