The plan could be used for an individual lesson, or as part of a longer unit on France. This resource contains 3 comprehension activities suitable for using with year 1. It is the story of The Gingerbread Boy, split into 3 parts: the beginning, middle and end. Each section contains a short piece of text (about 5 sentences) with words that can predominately be sounded out. There are three trickier words which have pictures to help children work out what they say. The text is followed by 5 simple questions. There are three differentiated sets of instructions on how to go blackberry picking, with differentiated questions. It is based on the KS1 SATs reading paper. There are a range of 'what, ’ ‘where’ and ‘why’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers.
