Within this lesson, it looks at how we can identify the difference between clauses and phrases and investigates the different types of clauses in detail (main clause, subordinate clause, relative clause and embedded clause). The lesson begins with a recap on word classes and then goes into identifying phrases and clauses. By the end of this lesson, children should be secure on the different types of clauses and should be able to identify them in their writing. The lesson ends with a picture to describe, allowing children to draw on their knowledge of different phrases and clauses they can use. This would be a perfect resource for a KS2 Grammar lesson or to use as a stand alone tutor session.
