GCSE Physics (9 – 1) Magnetism and Electromagnetism Revision
GCSE Combined Science (9 – 1) Magnetism and Electromagnetism Revision activity: Two simple revision worksheets, one for foundation tier content and one for higher tier. The PowerPoint gives answers for each of the questions on the sheets.
The resources are based on AQA combined science trilogy objectives but can be used as a basis for a revision lesson for any specification.
Contact and non-contact force GCSE Forces
Contact and non-contact forces GCSE Forces
GCSE Combined Science and Physics (2020)
An introduction to contact and non-contact forces including descriptions of frictional forces, air resistance, tension, normal contact forces, gravitational, magnetic and electrostatic forces.
This is lesson 2 for the Forces section of the GCSE specifications with a PowerPoint presentation leading through descriptions of each of the forces.
This short lesson includes:
A set of starter questions to review scalar and vector quantities with answers.
A description of each type of force.
A set of questions to review the learning objectives.
Note: This is a short lesson ideal for revision or the information could be added to a circus of activities to make a complete lesson.
GCSE science/Physics (9 – 1) Energy Stores
GCSE Physics (9 – 1) Energy Stores
GCSE Combined Science and Physics (9 – 1) Energy: A flexible Practical/demonstration lesson investigating the different types of energy stores in the energy section of the GCSE specifications with a PowerPoint presentation and student worksheets.
The lesson includes:
Starter activity: Students start a spider diagram on the subject of energy then share their thoughts with others in the class to build up the information.
The PowerPoint presentation leads the students through different types of energy stores. (Note: Depending on the specifications or textbooks used the PowerPoint can be easily modified.)
Practical activities: A circus of practical activities/demonstrations to provide an overview of each type of energy store. A list of suggested practical activities and demonstrations is provided – The number and type of activities will be determined by the time available for this part of the course. Note: These can be added to lessons further on in the topic if required.
A student worksheet is provide to summarise the main information about energy stores during the lesson.
Plenary activity: Students are required to come up with a way of remembering the different energy stores.
GCSE Physics: Introduction to Magnetism
GCSE Combined Science and Physics Magnetism and Electromagnetism: This is an introduction to the basics of magnetism for the Magnetism and Electromagnetism section of the GCSE specifications with a PowerPoint presentation and student word search worksheet.
The lesson includes:
Starter activity: Students complete a word search including all the key words for this part of the topic
The PowerPoint presentation leads the students through 3 practical activities to identify the magnetic materials, attraction and repulsion of magnets and the magnetic field patterns for bar magnets.
Plenary activity: Questions to summarise the main objectives for the lesson.
Student Worksheets
Student wordsearch activity, including answers, which can be used as a starter/bell work activity to introduce the key words for the topic.
