To my fellow teachers! Welcome to my TES shop. I am a music/music technology specialist with a passion for curriculum within my subject. My aim with all my resources is to enthuse students within the subject but also set high expectations as to their outcomes. Each unit of work will contain a comprehensive SOW document, all lessons, worksheets, HW tasks, scores (if necessary), assessment criteria, extension material and progress radar (for students to fill out weekly). Enjoy!!

This is a series of JPEGs that you can print to A4 and create this display. I’ve found this exceptionally useful for GCSE composition - students have a constant visual reminder of the chords of C and A minor and use the pentatonic scales for their melodic material. This resource has also filtered down to my KS3 classes as well - when they are improvising pieces they have used this to help them structure harmony.

This is a display that breaks down a top grade structure for GCSE Music composition. The blue posters give examples of top grade variation techniques that can be employed. Very useful when student’s are stuck with their composition. Resource is in A4 format but I blew them up to A3 for the display on the wall in the picture.

GCSE Music - Chord Structure

A PowerPoint lesson focusing on Chord Structure with accompanying worksheets. I delivered this to YR10 at the beginning of the year as an intro intro music theory. It was a double lesson and followed on from a lesson on Key. You might want to improve the practical activities a little - get students in groups etc and possibly introduce smaller practical activities to break-up some of the theory.
