This is a short ‘Whodunit?’ play I created. I used it with a Year 7 class but it would be suitable for any KS3 year group. There are 11 parts in the play, I have included an instructions sheet which explains how the play works. I used this as a starter activity to introduce mystery writing and building of suspense. An exemplar essay on the theme of conflict in Act One of ‘Journey’s End’. This was written by me as a way to encourage a better structure of response from my Year 10 class. It is roughly broken into three main sub categories of conflict to allow students to think beyond conflict= war. It links to context and language analysis.
