Two practice writing papers (one foundation, one higher) following the format of the new GCSE writing exam. The foundation paper includes four questions (describe the photo, 40 words question, translation and 90 words question) and the higher paper includes three (90 words question, 150 words question and translation). The papers focus on Theme 1 of the new spec (Identity and culture) and they cover family and relationships, technology and leisure.
I have also included two feedback sheets (one foundation, now higher) that include"check-lists" (based on the AQA mark scheme for writing) to provide quick, personalised feedback for each of the questions. The check lists provide the students with feedback on what went well (WWW) and what they need to do to improve further (TIF).
The resource also includes an explanation of the requirements of the Foundation and the Higher writing papers and a copy of the mark scheme for each question.

A bundle containing three resources to support students preparing for Paper 2 of the new Spanish A level exam:
- Spanish A Level Grammar booklet (118 pages).
- Paper 2 booklet: Volver.
- Paper 2 booklet: La casa de Bernarda Alba.
This booklet contains eight questions that follow the format of the 90-word questions in the new Spanish GCSE writing exam. They cover all aspects of Theme 2 (Local, national, international and global areas of interest), and they can be used in lessons, but also as an easy way to set useful homework activities for the students.
All questions include four bullet points that the students are prompted to cover, and they explicitly require them to include references to three time frames and opinions (as per the AQA mark scheme). When possible, one of the bullet points starts with 'qué hiciste', a question which appears in many of the AQA samples and that some students often fail to understand.
A similar booklet including questions for themes 1, 2 and 3 can be found in this link:

This file contains 5 foundation and 2 higher listening questions from and old listening paper (Edexcel 2010) adapted to fit the new specification.
I find that some students are having difficulties with Section B (questions and answers in Spanish) of the new paper, and there aren't many sample questions in the specimens, so I have translated and adapted previous exam questions to help them.
The listening files needed are clearly labelled (e.g. the question labelled SP2010F1 is from the Spanish 2010 Foundation paper, question 1.
A speaking activity (discussion card) and a reading activity about the feminist strike in Spain on the 8th of March (2018). The speaking card includes a photograph of the huge demonstration in Madrid, some facts about the strike and three questions to encourage the students to discuss the topic, and the reading activity is an adapted version of a newspaper article followed by three activities: find synonyms, translation and 90 word summary.
It falls under the topic equal rights, but it can also be used to illustrate to discuss protests and strikes, as part of the “Los movimientos populares” sub theme.
This 12-page resource contains three pages full of facts, statistics and figures about immigration in Spain and other Hispanic countries. Each of those pages is then followed by three activities that exploit the information in them: a discussion card (for paper 3), a translation and summary question (paper 1).
This document includes a lot factual information about Spanish and Latin American culture and society, focusing on the theme Aspects of Political Life in the Hispanic World of the new Spanish A Level course.
It provides students with wide range of facts and statistics about the topic, which should be very helpful in preparation for Paper 3 (the speaking exam). The information in the file can also be easily adapted to reading or translation activities.
This four-page file includes a lot factual information about Spanish and Latin American culture and society, focusing on the topic of Monarchies and Dictatorships, part of the theme Aspects of Political Life in the Hispanic World of the new Spanish A Level. It provides students with wide range of facts and statistics about the topic, which should be very helpful in preparation for Paper 3 (the speaking exam). The information in the file can also be easily adapted to reading or translation activities.
This file consists of six discussion cards based on the sub theme “Youths todays, citizens tomorrow” of the New Spanish A Level theme Aspects of political life.
The cards cover a variety of aspects of the sub-theme: political values, unemployment and their ideal society. Each card contains a lot of factual information and three questions to discuss the sub theme. FInally, the six cards are followed by a list of twenty questions to enable the students to study the sub theme further, as well as a list of useful language for the speaking test.
This booklet contains a detailed overview of the key vocabulary for the new Spanish GCSE. While it is not an exhaustive list, it contains a lot of vocabulary items organised according to each of the themes and topics of the new course and their lexical category.
The booklet starts with an overview of the course and the different themes and topics. This is followed with a section of exam rubrics in Spanish, taken from the AQA specification and from the 2018 exams (all four skills, at foundation and higher level).
The next section includes general vocabulary: asking questions, comparisons, quantifiers, conjunctions, connectives, negatives and prepositions.
The final section includes a page of key vocabulary for each of the topics (therefore four pages per theme) of the course. Each page contains on average ten key nouns, ten key verbs and ten key adjectives on the topic, followed by a blank page for students to add their own vocabulary.
I have uploaded two versions of the booklet: the first version only contains the Spanish words, without the English translation, and it can be used for starter or plenary activities in the lesson. The other one is the full version of the booklet, with the English translation.
