Christmas Counting Activity One-to-One Correspondence
This Christmas themed counting activity is perfect for KS1 children who are learning to count. This fun, hands-on activity helps children to develop their one-to-one correspondence skills while counting. Children read the number at the top of the activity mat ( they can also read the number from the dice faces which develops their subitizing skills too!). Children then use unifix or click cubes to build the correct number of cubes. Children can then count the total number of cubes again to develop their one-to-one correspondence skills when counting.

How to use this resource
This resource can either be printed or printed then laminated before use. You can also place the mats into dry erase pockets to make them more sturdy. Children look at the number at the top of each mat then can either use unifix cubes or tens and ones to build the number. Once they have built the number they can place the tens and ones onto the correct sections on the mat.
This activity helps to develop children’s understanding of how numbers are constructed using tens and ones.
As there are mats covering numbers up to 50, this activity can be used with a whole class or in smaller groups/math centers.
