Fraction, Decimal and Percentage Posters

(0)
These posters offer an excellent, clear visual display of the relationship between decimals, fractions and percentages. Each of the values are represented in a number of different ways for children to see and understand. A huge part of Maths Mastery is to be able to represent concepts in different ways and making links between different areas of Maths to show deeper understanding and these posters are a perfect example of that. I have these posters displayed year-round above my Maths board for children to refer to both when we are learning about decimals, fractions and percentages, but also as an example of showing the same concept in different ways to support them becoming Maths Masters! There are some options when printing – some poster are identical other than the wording of ‘fourth ‘ and ‘quarter’ so you can choose which you’d like depending on where you are in the World.

Year 4 expected worded fraction lesson. Maths mastery through visualisation, bar modelling and variation. ** SATS revision lesson** - Although a ‘Year 4 expected lesson’ the targetted questions have been taken from past SATS papers. This lesson leads to answering 3 questions taken from Year 4 expected examples from Testbase. For example: ‘My Granny lives 120km away from us. We are driving to see her and are 5/6 of the way there. How far have we driven so far?’ The lesson uses Bar Modelling and Variation (both from Shanghai / Singapore Maths as a part of Maths Mastery) to build children’s skills so they have the tools they need to answer these types of questions independently. CAN BE USED AS SATS REVISION It is presented as one lesson but depending on how long your lesson is, how quickly your children understand the learning and compete the work it may need 2 sessions. It looks at worded problems as short stories and models clearly how to draw bar models from the questions to support answering questions. I have uploaded the lessons and sheets as powerpoints which are easy to adapt if you would like to. There is one powerpoint with the lesson on. The other powerpoint is printables of the bar models for the practise section, the independent activity both as worded questions and as worded questions with bar models to be annotated.
