Encourage children to write like an author with this author word mat! While reading books, I note down adventurous vocabulary and sentence structures that the author uses. I then pull all of this together to make a word mat for that book, separated into sections: verbs, adverbs, adjectives, nouns and phrases to inspire children to write like an author. I have created these working scientifically bottles to support children in LKS2 in recognising the science skills they are practicing. I use these on my science display and ensure they are placed with easy access so I can take them down and stick them to the board, depending on which is relevant to the lesson we are doing. I hope it takes some pressure off workload and most importantly, helps the children in your class :)

An excellent document to have to inform planning and ensure children’s retention of prior knowledge or extension of further knowledge. Also a beneficial tool for subject leaders and staff to feel confident with the questioning during OFSTED visits. Prior learning Current learning Later learning Key vocabulary I hope they take some pressure off workload.
