To accelerate learning, I have been using booklets for a year now and they have made a massive difference to the student’s results. This resource is for the GCSE topic of Development for AQA. Has REALLY made a difference.
Works alongside the AQA GCSE textbook by Simon Ross. The booklet covers all of the Development topic except the country case study.
A great time-saving and effective resource. Enjoy!
This activity works at turning short term memory into long term. It makes a fantastic one off lesson for getting the students up to speed on the Weather Hazards GCSE Topic!! Works amazingly!!
Students get 10 minutes to memorise the complete memory map on the Living World Topic.
Students take the outline of memory map and complete as much as possible in black pen using only their memory.
After 10 minutes, they tun over the complete memory map and add in all the things they missed in red
Last time…on fresh, outline map, do the same again in black. Then do the red pen thing again after 10 minutes
The idea is to draw a complete memory map all in black!
50 marks end of unit test on Settlement (takes one lesson). Uses knowledge, skills and inference
Settlement site
Pattern
Photos and diagrams to work with an interpret
Out of town shopping advantages / disadvantages
Excellent for one lesson revision activity
Students spend 5-10 minutes memorising mind map
Turn over and then, in black, write everything they can remember
10 minutes back to main map adding anything missing in red
10 minutes memorising own map (with red and black ink)
Another blank map…go again
This is amazing at transferring short term to long term memory!

Population Flashcards for perfect knowledge retention
Seeing a lack of good flash cards on here, I decided to start making my own. The ones you are looking at cover the entire GCSE course for the topic of Population including case studies and skills.
To use them, harness the facts on the forgetting curve and the “Litener box system”.
Have three boxes, one to review daily, one to review every three days and one to review every week. Print off all the cards and put them in box one (daily). When a student has read these put it in two (every three days) and so on.
If ever a student reads a card and isn’t sure - put it back a box and keep going (3 to 2 or 2 to 1)!
This resource can be adjusted to suit any subject/topic. A really nice review sheet where students can reflect their learning. A must for all subjects.
