Mail merge and spreadsheet test

I use this as a mock exam for my year 8 students. It's a mail merged letter to apply for premiership football manager&'s jobs. Bit of a spoof one that requires kids to make a logo and create a graph too. I based it around where I work in Sittingbourne, but you could easily adjust the text in the letter and instructions to work for where you live.

If you have ever used my previous top down racer videos then I would suggest you move on to these ones as they are superior. Loads of skills to create a 2 player racing game like micro machines, lap counters, oil slicks, speed ups, and showing how to stop any cheats. Will keep kids busy for about 2-3 hours in general.

Very cool tutorial that shows how to construct a set of rollover buttons that are all sliced up and act as various triggers to link to websites, change the rollover colour and change another image. Perfect for students chasing a distinction grade on unit 21 of the OCR Nationals.

This is a sample chalkboard that I created for use with my AS level students on the WJEC course. You can find more of these on Teach-ICT, but they are not free. They are however my best work to date.

Series of videos to show kids how to make an insert for a video game case. The example uses a well known series of football games and will keep your students busy for many hours and they will learn some really good graphics skills along the way. It’s a really good project that your students will enjoy. I made the videos a few years ago now but it all still works today.

Quite simply there is nothing out there better than this set of tutorials to get your students’ heads around scratch. Most teachers will use YouTube videos or paid for resources and frankly the kids learn very little by just repeating what they see on the video or printed in front of them. Why is this app different? Because each video sets a task for the student to do and eventually it builds into a playable game. If your students struggle with a with a task then there is also a solution video and there is always a final video to identify extension tasks to stretch and challenge the most able. I promise you that you will change what you currently use and have your students use these videos on your tablets at school. Best of all the apps are completely free. Apple/iOS - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/scratch-tutorials/id1546971406 Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.popseven.scratchtutorials We have dropped a couple of files as examples of how the videos, in the app itself there are around 70 video files though!

Honestly absolute piece of cake to do this and you get some really fabulous work for your classroom walls. The image attached was created in about 2 minutes. Google Leslie’s artwork and you will see what it looks like and how your students can get so very close to recreating it so easily.
