Indices Multiple Choice Questions
A selection of 12 multiple choice questions for teaching indices, focusing on simplifying problems involving multiplication, division and brackets.
Area of Trapeziums Pointon and Sangwin
A worksheet to consolidate finding the areas of trapeziums. The worksheet was designed using Pointon and Sangwin taxonomy to help develop mathematical thinking among students.
Relative Frequencies and Expected Outcomes
A set of questions for calculating relative frequencies and expected outcomes.
Basic Angle Rules Question Set
A set of 16 varied angle questions to consolidate the 3 basic angle rules:
Angles on a straight line
Angles around a point
Vertically Opposite angles
After using this resource myself, the worksheet brings out common misconceptions that can spark some great classroom discussion.
Plotting straight line graphs
A worksheet to consolidate plotting of straight line graphs without the use of a table of values. Students are expected to use the properties of y=mx+c to plot their lines.
Pythagoras theorem finding shorter sides
A worksheet focused on calculating shorter sides of right angled triangles using Pythagoras’ theorem.
Interleaving topics include:
Areas of shapes (triangles, trapeziums, octogons/compound shapes)
Volumes of cones
Ratio
Perimeter
Fractions
Decimals
Multiple Event Probability
A set of questions on calculating multiple event probability, including unconditional and conditional problems.
Invariant Points AFL
A handful of AFL questions for teaching invariant points. A goo follow up question for some of the slides, “give me the coordinates of a point that some students might think is an invariant point but actually isn’t”.
Multi-step Pythagoras
A worksheet for solving multi-step Pythagoras problems.
Interleaving topics include:
Perimeter of Shapes
Area of Shapes
Similar Shapes
Properties of polygons
Constructing Bisectors and Perpendicular Lines
A varied worksheet on constructing line and angle bisectors, and perpendicular lines that pass through a given point. In addition there are some questions requiring students to construct some angles using a pair of compasses.
Constructing Loci
A worksheet on constructing loci. Including…
Loci from a point
Loci from a line
Loci from a shape
Loci equidistant from 2 points
Loci equidistant from 2 lines
Loci less than or more than from the above loci
Mixtures of Loci
Loci consisting of 2 points
Loci inside a shape
Loci from a scale
Areas of Loci
Enlargements Pointon and Sangwin
A worksheet designed using Pointon and Sangwin taxonomy.
The worksheet focuses on enlarging shapes using positive, fractional and negative scale factors. Students will also need to describe these transformations. Reflections, rotations and translations are used as a recap and invariant points are touched on.
Invariant Points Task
Students need to fill in the table with examples of transformations that will leave a shape with 0, 1 and infinite invariant points. Students are asked to sketch the examples into the table and add descriptions where neccessary.
Quadratic Sequences Card Sort
A card sort for consolidating finding the nth term of a quadratic sequence. Students are to order the cards forming a set of workings leading to the nth term of the sequence. Once checked, students complete the 2 additional quadratic sequences in their books.
Note: The print outs show the ordered card sort.
Areas of sectors
A worksheet consisting of 10 questions for finding the areas of sectors.
Interior Angles in Polygons Pointon and Sangwin
A worksheet to consolidate interior angles in polygons. The worksheet was designed using Pointon and Sangwin taxonomy to help develop mathematical thinking among students.
More Indices Multiple Choice Questions
A further selection of 12 multiple choice questions for teaching indices, focusing on indices with zero, negative and fractional powers.
Constructing Triangles and other shapes.
A set of 16 questions to consolidate constructions of triangles and other shapes. Q1-9 focus on only constructing triangles whereas Q10-16 use the skills built to constuct other quadrilaterals.
HCF and LCM Pointon and Sangwin
A worksheet to consolidate finding the HCF and LCM of a number using prime factorisation and Venn Diagrams. The worksheet was designed using Pointon and Sangwin taxonomy to help develop mathematical thinking among students.
Prime Factorisation Pointon and Sangwin
A worksheet to consolidate finding the prime factorisation of a number. The worksheet was designed using Pointon and Sangwin taxonomy to help develop mathematical thinking among students.
