Therefore I introduced a new method of communicating where you take what the learners already knows in their own language and just convert the words. This can run alongside the provision for EAL where they learn the language. Our child had been taught in Welsh and struggled with English but no help was given even though other languages like Hindi and Greek were catered for. I knew she already knew words in Welsh she just needed to learn the equivelant in English.
