Get this ready to use, engaging activity to teach protein sysnthesis to your students. This resource is designed to help your students apply and see protein synthesis in action. Are you looking for an engaging hands-on activity to teach about ecological succession? This product might offer the help. It is a 2 part activity that is sure to keep students physically and mentally engaged throughout the lesson. In part 1: SCENARIOS: Students read two scenarios( each representing primary or secondary succession) and choose one to work on. They then cut and paste and color a series of pictures showing the progression of the succession over time. They also explain what happens at each stage and give examples of organisms that will likely be found on each stage. There is an easel version to this activity. To give the teacher more options. In part 2: PRIMARY vs SECONDARY SUCCESSION: Students complete a match the term to the definition activity. Students match terms such as climax species, pioneer species and others to the correct definitions. Next, they compare and contrast primary and secondary succession in a Venn diagram style. And Lastly, they discuss different events that might trigger primary or secondary successions. There is an easel version to this activity too. In activity 1: Students research and write down basic info about 6 common protists. These protists include amoeba, euglena, volvox and 3 others. In activity 2: Students learn about types of protists including; plant-like, animal-like, fungal-like and mixotrophs. Part 1 ( create and timeline) : Students research the history of microscopes and create a timeline to learn about how microscopes have evolved over the years. Looking for a new way to teach soil profile, soil formation and soil particles with little preparation? This resource could be all you need. All the activities have minds-on and hands-on element in them to increase student engagement. Each part also has accompanying notes to assist students and reduce the teacher’s preparation time. It comes in three parts: ***Please check preview to see sample work. PART 1: Soil Reading comprehension In this part, students will read information and learn about; what is soil?, what makes up soil?, humus, soil microorganisms, soil texture and particle sizes. Afterwards, they will answer comprehension questions based on the text they have read. PART 2: Soil Formation Documentary Video In this part, students will watch a 5 minute video documentary about how soils are formed. They will listen for information in the video and answer some questions about the film. The video discusses the role of lichens and weather in the early stages of soil formation. It highlights the stages of soil formation in a very natural way that students will love. Video links and QR codes are all provided and easily accessible. PART 3 Soil Profile Jigsaw Activity IIn this final part, students will read information about soil profile and complete a jigsaw activity.
