Afterwards, they will answer comprehension questions based on the text they have read. PART 2: Soil Formation Documentary Video In this part, students will watch a 5 minute video documentary about how soils are formed. They will listen for information in the video and answer some questions about the film. The video discusses the role of lichens and weather in the early stages of soil formation. It highlights the stages of soil formation in a very natural way that students will love. Video links and QR codes are all provided and easily accessible. PART 3 Soil Profile Jigsaw Activity IIn this final part, students will read information about soil profile and complete a jigsaw activity. This resource has been designed to help students develop and build their 21st century skills which includes collaboration, experiment design, critical thinking, data analysis and representation and observation. **Check preview for sample sheets and key What’s included in this resource? A complete Power Point Presentation ( with notes on all slides for the teacher ) Solutions Labsheet ( including the advance and general versions) Post Lab Worksheet ( for students to plot a graph) Answer Keys Teacher Guide ( with tips and all guidelines) Introduction: Students are introduced to the topic of solutions via the PPT slides in this resource. This provides students the background and help them understand the meaning of solutions in chemistry terms, their examples, types and how to they are made (i.e solute + solvent= solution) Part 1: Students are presented with two driving questions; a) Does increasing or decreasing the temperature affect how fast sugar dissolves in water? b) Does increasing or decreasing the surface area affect how fast sugar dissolves in water? They are challenged to design and carry out their own experiments to investigate these questions. All information and guidelines are included in the PPT for the teacher in cluding the post lab activities. Part 2: In this part, students are provided with data on the temperature vs solubility of three different types of salts. They use the data to plot a line graph and complete some related questions. Are you looking for NET FORCES lesson that is both engaging and stimulating? Look no further. I have designed this 3 part forces lesson that offers students the opportunity to explore key force concepts through PHET simulations, practice drawing free body diagrams and try their hands on many variety of challenging net force problems. What’s included in this resource? Explore Worksheet :Phet simulation (includes liks and QR codes to simulation) Free body diagram worksheet Net force practice problems ( 2 pages ) See preview to see sample sheets and Annswer Keys. Part 1: Explore Balanced and Unbalanced Forces In this parts, students explore how balanced and unbalanced forces affect an objects movement using PHET simulations. Through this activity, students arrive at their own conclusions regarding key ideas relating to forces, acceleration and friction. The worksheet provides easy-to-follow steps ( with pictures) to play the simulations. Part 2: Drawing Free body Diagrams In this second part, students read statements and draw free body diagrams to represent the forces being applied. Afterwards, they calculate the net forces and check if the the forces are balanced or unbalanced and whether the object will accelrate or not accelerate. Part 3: Net Forces Practice Questions In the last part, students will solve various net forces questions from simple to challenging ones. Page 1 involves simple calculations of addition and subtraction. Page 2 involves forces at right angles ( pythagoras theorem) and angles less or greater than 90 degrees ( law of cosine). It will be helpful if students have some knowledge before they begin page 2 as it is requires the use of various formulae. I have included answer keys and Teacher Guide to assist the teacher. GRADE LEVEL: Grades 7 to 9 The variety of activities make this lesson highly engaging for students. They not only get to “play” fun simulations but they can learn through the process.
