A set of 3 x sentence builders to help pupils structure their answers and vary their vocab for the card discussion in the speaking exam for AQA. Quizlet links for studying the vocab are included in the document. Pupils can use this document as a scaffold when preparing answers to speaking cards.
Various exercises to introduce and practise three reflexive verbs on the topic of family relationships - s’entendre avec, se disputer avec, se fâcher contre. Also practices vocab for members of the family and negative sentences with ne pas and ne jamais. Exercises include matching / match-up, listening / jumble / unscramble sentences and gap-fill. A big quiz of 30 questions on the Spanish-speaking world - can be used for beginners, done aurally in class or as a research task. Answers are included in the document. Great for starting off beginners in Spanish to get them interested in Hispanic world, or as an end-of-term fun activity!
A reading comprehension with various exercises to consolidate the vocabulary on the topic. For KS4 topic of health / healthy lifestyles. Activities include find the vocab in the text, gap-fill, French questions, vocab-list and translation.
Intended for the study of films in Spanish, this handout provides introductory steps to analysing film, and a comprehensive glossary of vocabulary in English and Spanish with detailed explanations and examples. The examples relate to the Almodovar film, Volver, but the principles can be applied to any film. It is roughly aimed at students studying for A-Level, Pre-U or IB (aged 16+). Whilst this resource is designed to provide information, you can also create activities from it, for example, by mixing up the Spanish and English words to match up, or match words to definitions. Or, you could assign different students certain terms and ask them to produce a short analysis of these aspects in one key scene to present to the class.

A 3-page worksheet / activity sequence explaining how to use the pronouns en and y in set phrases for the topic of free time / hobbies / les loisirs / le temps libre. Ideal for helping pupils to integrate these into their writing to score higher marks for complexity / use of ‘complex structures’.
The principles for how en and y work are briefly explained, but the pronouns are mostly practised in the context of useful phrases on the topic, including with negatives and time phrases.
There is also a stage combining them with the present tense with depuis to enhance the complexity of students’ sentences.
Activities include a brief grammar explanation to read, a matching task, a teacher-led listening, multiple-choice, translations and a writing task.
All answers included.
Suitable for KS4 French or very able KS3 pupils as extension work.

Various worksheets and activities to introduce and practise the future tense in French:
A few inductive grammar activities to introduce the future tense in French - a match-up exercise followed by inductive grammar exercise and links to a Quizlet and Quizizz games to practise the endings.
A variety of exercises to practise the future tense, including multiple-choice, gap-fill and translation. Mostly regular verbs but irregular verbs are introduced in the last activity. Answers included.
A short gap-fill on the future tense along with a speaking drill to practise conjugating orally.

I just made these 6 sentence builders to give to my students to revise from for a writing test. They cover the following points:
Introducing yourself, giving age, birthday, where you’re from and where you live
Describing physique, hair and eyes - of yourself or of someone else
Describing personality - of yourself or of someone else
Describing your family and giving their names, ages and birthdays
Saying what pets you have (and colours) and any pets you used to have / would like to have

A brief guide on how to use a sentence builder for those who aren’t familiar with this fantastic tool that has been championed by MFL pedagogy legends such as Gianfranco Conti, Steve Smith and Dylan Vinales - I do not take credit for these ideas, I am simply organising them into a concise list of my personal favourite activities to accompany some of the sentence builders that I upload to my shop.
