I am currently a senior examiner for GCSE French writing, and many of my resources concentrate on developing exam skills, while still providing engaging activities. They are designed to develop the key skills needed for the new exam format throughout KS3 and 4.

A 26 slide Powerpoint which goes through telling the time step by step. It uses both ‘Son las…’ and ‘a las…’. There are detailed explanations and exercises with answers. The Powerpoint takes a systematic approach, building up from whole hours, adding halves and quarters, and then minutes past and to. Useful revision of telling the time in any suitable topic area, but the exercises focus on school timetables and arranging to go out, which could be easily adapted. Could accompany Viva 1 module 3 ‘Mi insti’ and Viva 2 module 4 ‘Que hacemos?’.

Contains a variety of exercises on the subject of school, including vocabulary building, translation skills, reading comprehension, a 90 word writing task, picture question and extension activities. The tasks range from straightforward to challenging. There are more than enough tasks to keep even the keenest students busy. There are opportunities built in to the tasks to give student and teacher feedback. Ideal for home learning, and for students who have limited IT access, as paper copies could be made.

The resources are based on, but are different from those in the textbook. Contains a variety of exercises on the subjects of places in a town, activities, things to do in your area, eating tapas, what you are going to do. Includes vocabulary building, key phrases, translations, straightforward reading comprehension, a simplified writing task, picture questions and wordsearches. There are exercises on telling the time, using the 24 hour format, but relatively simple. Also includes creating a menu page and project research tasks on the towns mentioned in the booklet. A look at the contents page on the preview will give you an idea. The tasks are straightforward. Ideal for home learning, or for reinforcement in school, as the tasks are largely based on the textbook but are significantly simplified. Individual exercises could be given as homeworks.
A Word and a PDF version are available. There is a version available for more able students.

A collection of 10 A4 posters illustrating the use of different negatives. Useful for both KS3 and GCSE students, so they are not ‘tricked’ by negatives occuring in texts and exams. They are on a football theme, so may grab the attention of some students. For example Gary Lineker says ’ Je ne mange que des chips’. Ideal for laminating and using for classroom display, or shrink the text to make a revision worksheet.

Designed to complement MIra 2, but can be used independently. There is a students workbook of approximately 14 pages for each module of work, providing practice in all skills: translating, writing, conversation questions, picture card and role play. A worksheet for GCSE students to enhance their translation skills on the topic of Shopping for Clothes. A variety of exercises, from individual sentences with a particular grammar focus, and passages for translation Spanish-English and vice versa. Where appropriate there are hints and reminders. There is also an accompanying answer sheet, which may be useful for students to check their own work, especially if working remotely. There are similar worksheets for different GCSE topics.
