They organised the characters into Montagues/Capulets/Neither then glued them in their books in the groups. Underneath the pictures they wrote key details about each character. Could be used as a revision exercise or to explore relationships between characters.

An A5 sized booklet for easy use with planners with three homework tasks based on natural disasters and how they are presented in the media. Tasks are project-based and include research, creative making and written tasks. Booklet also contains key words for a media unit and space for learners to record any new vocabulary they learn.

A worksheet for use in the classroom when learners are watching a film as part of their studies. The sheet helps them to focus on specific aspects of the film rather then becoming immersed in the plot and supports them in the making of useful notes. This sheet is also very useful when it comes to the end of term and you want to show a film but don't want learners (or passing colleagues!) to think they've been given a free lesson. Works well as A4 but even better when blown up to A3.

A series of five information sheets about various aspects of Victorian history which are linked to elements within the gothic genre. These can used to provide some social and historical context to the study of any Victorian gothic text. Topics include Jack the Ripper, Body Snatchers and Bedlam Asylum.

A lesson looking at the features of urban legends with a range of examples, This was used to introduce a task whereby learners wrote their own urban legend which they told to the class as part of a speaking and listening assessment.

A fully adaptable action plan aimed at preparing Year 11 for their GCSE exams. Using the theme of a military operation briefing, there is space to provide details of previous assessments, group targets and individual targets as well as space for dates of mock and external exams. A useful way of focusing Y11s on what they need to do in order to succeed. Originally devised as a resource for GCSE English, but could be adapted for any subject or any year group. Resource includes a Publisher and a Powerpoint version with both a partially completed example and a completely blank one for you to personalise. I've also included a quick teachers' notes section explaining what each section refers to.

A lesson following the TEEP planning cycle which looks at alliteration in poetry then moves on to support learners in writing their own alliterative sentences which can be put together to produce a class poem. Includes lesson plan, power point and all the resources for a creative and engaging lesson

A lovely lesson looking at Scrooge's character at the beginning of the novel, identifying quotations and developing PEE paragraphs. Learners use PEE to build a paper-chain of Scrooge's bad deeds similar to Marley's Ghost's chain in the novel, which can then be used as a classroom display and referred to as part of revision work. A scheme of work developed as part of the cross-curricular Forgotten Soldiers project looking at individuals from different cultures and religions who fought for the Allies during WW1 and 2. Two units of work are included: one looks at WW1 poetry as part of a creative writing task on the theme of 'Boots'; the other focuses on key individuals aiming to build awareness of the contributions of people from other ethnic groups towards the war effort.

Pack contains engaging activities such as a 'Where's Wally?' starter and a skimming and scanning relay race, full lesson plan and power point, all resources and a new mnemonic for remembering what to look out for when scanning a text. This lesson was devised as an observation for an interview and, guess what? I got the job!

A booklet with a range of reading activities based on aspects of historical and social contexts of Macbeth. Activities develop reading skills while providing contextual information including James I, witchcraft and the Gunpowder Plot. At the end of the booklet is a reading assessment in the style of the new GCSE exams (WJEC).

A calendar (generic dates for easy re-use) with a different literacy focus for each month. Each month has a different focus with examples and a space for different curriculum areas to add their own subject specific example or usage. An ideal way to promote literacy across the curriculum ensuring consistency while showing that literacy is applicable to all subjects.
