A full lesson on the Nitrogen Cycle (content follows the AQA Alevel Biology specification). This lesson is part of the Alevel only topic 5: Energy transfers in-between organsims. Lesson includes: pre-reading notes to set students as homework during a prior lesson do it now retirieval activity on previous topics -retrieval questions based on the prior reading notes ‘new information’ and embedding of the nitrogen cycle content checking for understanding activities exam question application This lesson can take 1-2 teaching periods to cover, or the exam question application activity could be set as homework. I am unable to upload the worksheet for one of the activities shown in the powerpoint as it is a download from twinkl (fill in the gaps of the nitrogen cycle) - but all other worksheets and printables are included.

A card for LA students to support conversion of SI units, (conversion of picometres, nanometres, micrometres and millimetres). Made for the NEW AQA Biology Trilogy Combined spec - Biology chapter 1: Order of magnitude. Will fit other exam board/specs. I usually print and laminate as a desktop resource, but can be stuck into books or used differently.

QWC or DIRT task renewable non-renewable resources

Used along with a sustainability/renewable resources Y8 lesson, this QWC or DIRT task can be used to assess pupils in-depth. I used it in conjunction with our KS3 textbook, however it is adaptable to meet your spec. Get students to follow the criteria and then tick off what they have done when you mark it so you can easily level it, then get them to do any SPAG improvements and additions to their work - simple.

Part of the new AQA spec (2016) B2 photosynthesis. Starter - video clip and think, pair, share. Lesson activity - information hunt using differentiated worksheet (red for 1* objectives, amber for 2* objectives and green for 3* objectives). You can also set pupils the next level questions as stretch and challenge extensions. Extension - for pupils who finish the green activity and need further stretch and challenge. Peer assessment as plenary.

This has been adapted from several other resources and made to be RAG differentiated, and uses fact finding around the classroom to get students to interact and engage more with the content. The bundle includes a presentation with levelled outcomes, a starter activity, an activity which will enable pupils to RAG differentiate themselves, a RAG differentiated fact finding activity, card sort and specialised cell fact sheets.

Mutation find an answer starter (Editable to use for any topic)

Perfect for any topic to check students' prior knowledge or check progress from prior lessons. Editable by adding new questions into each box. Pupils are given 5 minutes to move around the classroom and find a student who can answer each question, they must find a different pupil to answer each question. This checks pupils' progress or prior understanding as they must each answer most of the questions for other students. These can then be peer marked, self assessed or marked by the teacher for a progress check.
