This is an A Level vocabulary list based on the first topic in theme 1 (Edexcel specification). It is not a long one, just a few words divided in three categories: adjectives, nouns and verbs. Words are to do with la familia, las relaciones and el matrimonio. There are also some translations into English and into Spanish so that students can put those words into practice. It can be used as homework or as support for less able or disorganised students. *It now includes answers to translations.

A lesson after which students will be able to describe what an ideal friend is. All exercises are explained in each slide with great detail. Writing is the main skill practised.

This worksheet was created for my Year 10 and Year 11 students to practise further their vocabulary on the topic of family, friends and relationships. As part of Theme 1 (La evolución de la sociedad española) in the Edexcel scheme of work, I created this two-hour lesson to discuss the role of grandparents. Plenty of authentic materials: a reading, a listening (created from a podcast seen in RTVE) and a translation (from El País).

KS4 (Year 9 - Year 11 low ability) lesson to practise vocabulary on free time activities. To make it a bit more current, I included pictures of Greta Thunberg doing different activities in her free time and this is how the vocabulary is introduced. All answers included.

Looking for different ways to help students, I saw on Twitter the idea of a ladder reflecting elements needed for grades. It starts with an easy present tense sentence and finishes with a sentence which includes an indirect object pronoun. It can be used at the start of a lesson, to test how much students know on a particular subject or can be given as homework for students to work independently. Whole lesson on the context of Spain’s transition to democracy, explaining both the roles of the King Juan Carlos I and Adolfo Suárez, but focusing on Suárez. Authentic materials have been used for listening tasks and adapted for reading comprehension questions. There is a speaking at the end taken from the Edexcel exam in 2018.
