I have been teaching for nine years and I have a great passion for Early Years. I have been in Early Years throughout most of my teaching career. I honestly believe that children’s early experiences can shape them for life. I have a variety of resources and ideas for Reception/ Nursery aged children.

Christmas Show - Perry the Penguin!

(1)
Christmas Show! Perry the Penguin! This show is about a penguin called Perry. He gets lost in a snowstorm and needs to find his way home. Along the way he meets a few friends to help him to find his way home. This show is fantastic for Reception children (tried, tested and loved by all - children and parents.) It is a very simple and easy to follow script. I did this show with ninety Reception children and it was a great success. The show is about 20 minutes long. I can also provide information about how many of each character you need if you tell me how many children you have in your year group. A PowerPoint is included with all of the backgrounds, songs and music. A few well known songs and new original written songs – including Perry Penguin and Five Little Reindeers. Everything is one place – simple to use PowerPoint. The children helped to make the costumes - information included about costumes. Feel free to message me on Facebook at Early Years Inspired or email me at eyfsinspired@gmail.com. There are speaking parts for more confident children – a range of different characters and all of the children are able to join in with singing the songs. Any queries you have I am happy to help and support you through them. Message me for more information. You will not be disappointed! This show is available for only £5!

Fine Motor Skill Activity Sheet

These sheets support children with their fine motor skill development. The children have to carefully follow the path staying in the lines. The sheets have a dinosaur, supergirl and suberboy. The sheets get harder. There are five sheets in each pack. The children really enjoy the challenge of making it to the end.

Phase Two -rhyming word revision books

These phase two books can be used to support children with their reading. I personally use these books with my struggling readers as I find the rhyming words and pictures really support them when reading. I also print these booklets and bind them. I then send them home with the children to practise reading at home. These books contain simple words and sentences that can easily be understood by the children. In Town - phase three/ four book

I use this book during my phonic sessions (applying phase three and phase four). I also use it as an assessment tool, if the children can read the collection of these books they have definitely met the early learning goal. I print them, cut them and staple them on the blue line. I also delete the words from the stories and encourage the children to write the sentences too. *other books available

Simple birthday display - I type the children’s names and dates of birth under the correct month and display them in my classroom. Quick and simple.

Phase Two and Three Assessment Sheets

Phase two and three assessment sheet. I use this to track the children’s phonic knowledge. I highlight in orange for autumn, green for spring and blue for summer to show progress (stated in the flags on the assessment sheet, colours can be changed.) The castle makes it a bit more fun for the children. There is a word to match each sound. I also teach ay, oy as the children seem to want to write words using these sounds quite often. They can be easily removed from the assessment.

My First Day at School - Baseline

(1)
A simple baseline for Reception children to gain a quick insight into children’s developmental stage. Easy to complete. I use this baseline in the Autumn, Spring and Summer term to show progression (if needed, depends on child). I complete a different simple assessment for children that have progressed beyond this stage by the Spring and Summer terms.

I use this resource to support my readers that are struggling. I feel that the rhyme and pictures helps to build their confidence when reading. I laminated the sheets and turned the PowerPoint into a flip book and I also send them home with children to read at home with their parents. I have received great feedback from parents. I have also used this PowerPoint by binding it together and then cutting across on top of the words to make it into a book where the children have to match the words and the pictures. I am offering the first one for free, but the set can be purchased at a discounted price.
