World War Two - The Blitz
World War Two lesson which focuses on the Home Front and the Blitz. The lesson asks pupils to research areas of Britain which were targeted during the Blitz through helpful links. This is followed by a task where pupils decide if images of the Blitz would have been censored by the press in order to increase moral.
There is an additional finisher task of creating a news report with a BBC news template. This could stretch the lesson over two periods.

This is the introduction lesson to a series of lessons looking at Britain and the Home Front during WW2.
This lesson takes pupils through the steps to WW2 starting with a ladder task where pupils fill in the different steps to WW2 on the spaces.
Great opening lesson to build a foundation for a WW2 topic for junior pupils.
World War Two - Rationing
This lesson looks at what rationing was like on the Home Front during World War Two. Pupils are asked to think about what was rationed and then to figure out how much they think people would have been given of different foods. Following this there is a rationing quiz where pupils have to complete simple maths problems to work out how much a family would receive. A great way to add numeracy into the lesson.
World War Two - Channel Islands
This lesson fits well into a series of lessons which looks at the Home Front during World War Two. This lesson looks into what life was like on the Channel Islands to highlight to pupils what life was like in in a part of Britain which the Nazis occupied.
Pupils will complete a series of puzzles to find out information about the different ways in which life changed for islanders.
World War Two - Defend the City
This lesson follows on well from learning about The Blitz. This lesson looks at the ways in which the British government tried to defend the British people. Such as evacuation, shelters, gas masks. before going into them in more detail in subsequent lessons.

This lesson looks at the experience of evacuees during World War Two and fits well into a group of lessons on the Home Front.
This lessons asks pupils to decide whether evacuees had a positive or negative experience when evacuated. And then to consider what they would take with them if they were to have been evacuated.
