Can be used as a station activity or however you wish! Three different stations/sets of questions included. Took me a whole lesson to deliver. and give them an opportunity to mark. I had the answers printed - in envelopes on the tables that they were only allowed to open at the end of their time at that station. Questions are from past papers with answers attached. Product analysis question included as well.

Blank cards and the card with answers/descriptions on are supplied. Can be used as a whole lesson or as a revision lesson/activity. Lesson to go with doesn’t cover the environmental properties but works well as a whole lesson. Print page 1 as their starter activity. Then I got the students to cut up their own cards and match the keyword (on the wordsearch) to the decription and the picture on the cards. The pictures are really effective in helping them remember which property means what. Following that there are some quizes you can get them to do - questioning each other etc. Extension to include written descriptions of materials they have been studying linking with the material properties.

A station activity where students travel around the room to answer questions and push their revision on different materials and manufacturing methods using questions from past AQA papers. Adapt page 2 and 9 to suit your lesson time and your rewards. Print slides 3-8 these are the station instructions to place around your room. Give each student a copy of the marksheet to complete during the lesson.

Designed as a revision lesson. Print slide 1, 9, 11 and 16 on A3 paper as student worksheets. Section 1 - are fast timed activities to try and get the students thinking of different methods of designing followed by discussion around empirical, intuitive and systematic design. Also framed around the initial designing question (Q1) on the exam which will ask students to design using different starting points. Section 2 - refresher on anthropometrics and ergonomics - great opportunity for whiteboard answers or even working together in pairs to try and product a ‘perfect’ answer. Followed by the example exam question. Section 3 - Product development - including copyright patents and an example exam question.

GCSE Product Design - Articulate revision game

The students loved this! Both the sound on the video and their competitive streak helped to add to the tension and engagement in the game. It helps to embed the learning of key words and terms for the exam as they need to describe the word to their team without actually saying it. Easy game to pick up quickly and lots of fun! I printed the board in two halves and stuck them together. You can use anything you want for counters. I also printed a pack of cards for each team in the game (There are 36 cards in a pack - each with 6 different DT Vocablulary words on - 216 terms in a pack of cards) - the chances of the same card coming up for the same colour each time was so low that it meant that they got a greater exposure to the vocabulary they need for the exam! You can add ‘all play’ option for your advanced teams too. Enjoy! :)
