This is a SOW for the set text ‘Antigone’ for A-level Drama and Theatre. It is part of a larger SOW that spans across the two year course. The focus for Part A is to introduce students to the characters, narrative, relationships etc. whilst exploring the roles of a director and performer. There are several theory lessons integrated with practical work. As the scheme develops the lessons become more student led, requiring them to work as small theatre companies to produce performances.

This scheme of work combines both practical and exam question focused activities. It includes a range of lessons that explore character, relationships, themes and narrative providing students with a good introduction to their study of the set text.
This SOW introduces learners to basic physical skills in performance such as facial expression, movement and gesture. It also includes opportunities to explore puppet making and sound. The lessons have been created in response to the pandemic and can be adapted/edited for online learning/blended and classroom based Drama lessons.
Through the use of stop motion, students will plan and film a short video. They will plan and create a simple story that includes two characters (at home). Students will be demonstrating their understanding through ‘live’ performances and puppetry.
