My first role as a teacher was a sexual health tutor and then I went on to teaching functional skills and now I work as an English Additional Language Specialist.
I also work as an advanced practitioner for using technology in teaching and can provide advice for these subjects.

A set of revision booklets for Functional Skills English Level 1 and 2, Reading and Writing. These have not been updated for a while so some of the areas of the curriculum may not be relevant but on the whole they will provide the revision needed to pass functional skills English. Students like to have a set of resources to revise for the exam and these provide this.
These booklets were originally based on the City and Guilds exam but can also be used for Edexcel and other awarding bodies for functional skills. They may also be useful for basic skills for learners who are having to do GCSE. The booklets are for revision for the exam and are not full lessons for each subject, merely to remind and advise learners. These booklets were vital for my students and have been used by other colleagues. The resources state The Manchester College as that is where I worked, but they were created completely by myself.

I was a teacher of Functional Skills for many years and know that grammar can be a big problem for the writing and speaking exams for learners with English as an additional language. I then worked teaching English as a second language in functional skills, and in international schools and Cambridge English. Therefore I have a good understanding of English grammar and how to teach it effectively. I am also an EdTech specialist with a specialism in blended learning. I have good knowledge of graphic design and accessibility and methods of pedagogical learning.

This asks learners to know what HIV and AIDS stands for, asks them to look at certain risks of HIV and decide if there is no risk, a low risk or a high risk of catching HIV this way. It also gives learners the opportunity to discuss stigma within HIV
This is a worksheet I made for 14-18 year olds to do on contraceptive methods. This worksheet has pictures of each method and gives learners the opportunity to demonstrate how each method is used, how long they last, which gender uses them and wether they protect you from STI’s and HIV.
Cut out the cards printed on the sheet and ask learners to match up the treatment and symptoms of the three STI’s. Include information booklets to help them.
