First Settlers - Board Game
Perfect support material for lessons on Mesopotamia or Egypt, The First Civilizations, The Stone Age, and The Agricultural Revolution.
This is a turn-based board game designed to get students thinking about the first settlers to start farming. Students can play in groups of 1-4.
Each student starts off as a hunter-gatherer community, and the aim of the game is to become a settled farming community. Students accomplish this goal by moving about the map, collecting resources, fighting off lions, and feeding their communities who will build the first farms.
This game is re-playable if students use a pencil and eraser.
Includes a follow-up worksheet on the First Settlers.
Mapping Egypt and Mesopotamia: The First Civilizations
Students draw and label the Nile, Tigris, and Euphrates Rivers, the Fertile Crescent, Mesopotamia, and Egypt on a blank map by following instructions and examples on the slide show.
Next, students label the modern countries of the same area on another blank map.
