Stalin's Balance Sheet

Stalin's Balance Sheet As the leader of the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin industrialized one of the largest and least industrialized countries in Europe, which probably saved the world from Nazi domination. The people of the Soviet Union paid a horrific price for this as any opposition was crushed. Stalin was one of the most ruthless and paranoid leaders in all of World History. In this history lesson, students will research Stalin's actions, analyze the outcomes and develop the positive and negatives of each. In doing that, students will come to realize how people in the Soviet Union saw him both as a monster and a hero.
