Ready to go lesson, everything included even the homework labels. Lesson is very student driven and is based on Learning Logs to provide evidence of progress.

Students use the literature to make notes and then rewrite it using the connectives. I have found this an extremely effective way of teaching them to extract relevant information from text and rewriting it in their own words.

This was originally written as a cover lesson but it works equally well as a literacy activity. YOU WILL NEED ACCESS TO OXBOX CHEMISTRY TEXT BOOKS.

Everything you need for a lesson on insulation that incorporates work on calculating means and drawing conclusions. Students carry out an investigation on insulation material using different materials around beakers of hot water.

Students cut out the shapes and then match the dates to the event. Good research activity or can be used alongside Exploring Science 7 book.

For those using SOLO taxonomy the levels and homework are clearly identified. Homework labels just need to be printed and students can select the level they wish to do. For use with Thermal Transfer. A set of labels to be printed off with student targets. I use these as a marking aid for target setting at the end of each topic. Students then use the following lesson to do the individual target tasks that have been set. Ofsted sorted!

This lesson is based on the UPD8 activity surrounding the crash of Richard Hammond's dragster. Ready to go just access the crash video from youtube via the link. Students of all abilities find it very engaging.

Based on a feedback task for the Jan 2012 exam. Students given an incorrect answer and mark scheme which they use to make corrections and then write a model answer. Answers attached.

This activity is in the style of a takeaway menu and caters for all students from level 3 -8. Students are given the Information Sheet and Takeaway Menu. Students match the problem to the correct equation and enter the relevant number on the grid. Students will know if their answers are all correct because all of the rows and columns total the number 39 (see the answer sheet). Particularly useful for those who need some extra help with unpicking physics questions.

Students decide which SOLO level they are at and choose a partner of similar level. They then complete the activity set for that level and continue with the tasks of a higher level. Set up 2 workstations, one with the equipment for practical - trundle wheel, tape and stopclock, and another with the hexagons activity.

A short activity designed for BTec but could easily be used for lower/middle ability groups learning to calculate Kinetic Energy and Change in GPE.

This is a checklist adapted from the new AQA physics spec. I use it as a marking aid at the end of the topic and tick off the outcomes achieved. They are then given reflection (D.I.R.T.) time and assessed again. My students are finding these exceptionally useful.
