A range of ideas for lessons based on building a description of a city and/or countryside setting in WW2. The descriptions could be used as openers in a story based around evacuees who were sent to live in a rural location. This is a tried and tested classroom resource. Pupils should collect ideas from the pictures provided and use the model text to write an effective description. Descriptive writing activity which has been tried and tested in the classroom in upper KS2, but could easily be used with other age groups. Learners will brainstorm descriptions of the location and scene of Dracula’s mysterious and eerie castle. They then write a detailed account using the information they have gathered. LO: To represent data using Venn diagrams. Learners cut out the Olympic sports symbols to correctly place them in the correct position on the Venn diagrams. Learners can be given suitable criteria to sort the sports or create their own. e.g. Sports that use water, sports that use a ball, team sports, contact sports etc. A list of sample criteria is also included with this resource.
