This is an opportunity to introduce an engaging unit of work based on writing the biography of a significant children's author. This resource is aimed at upper KS2 pupils (Years 5&6) but could also be used with years 7&8. There are opportunities for focused research, proof reading, writing in chronological order and producing a final piece of biographical writing. This resource also includes a highly stimulating initial PowerPoint presentation, suggestions for success criteria, a national reading test style comprehension and a KWL grid. This resource will take several weeks to complete and all materials can be modified to suit your needs. A full unit of work based around creating a talent show - This is a rich task aimed at embracing the principles of the new curriculum. This resource includes an engaging set of activities which have been tried and tested in the classroom in KS2, but could be used with other age groups. Video clips, worksheets, suggested activities, presentations, a plan for your show, job descriptions and evaluation materials are included. A comparison is made between 1960’s talent shows and the modern day format. This was used at the end of a topic based around the 1960’s.
