Fred and George Weasley are well known for their mischievous pranks…this time they have gone too far! Formal letter writing activity which has been tried and tested in the classroom in upper KS2, but could be used with other age groups. Learners will look at the main features of a letter of complaint. They will then write their own letter from Headteacher, Professor Dolores Umbridge, to Mr and Mrs Weasley using the information provided. After looking at existing examples of Theme Park Leaflets, (not included) learners design and create their own leaflet using this template. These sheets are designed to be attached inside an exercise book and used in a display. A free 'YouTube' link to the full movie has also been included for your convenience.

Lesson based on the declaration of war on Germany in 1939. Tried and tested classroom resource. Pupils should make notes on the key facts given in the video clip. They will then produce their own news reader's script to break the news to the British public using the model text as an example. Two note taking templates and a copy of the success criteria for writing an effective news reader report is also included.
