Full unit of work on the short story 'The Sniper' by Liam O'Flaherty. Supported PPT to lead pupils through critical essay. Unit designed and used many times successfully with S3 and National 4/3. Added support sheets for less able pupils.

The Hurt Locker is a film that will work at National 3,4 and 5 for Critical Essay Media. A supported unit for pupils (National 5 S5 pupils who have completed Nat 4). Comes with activity sheet and fully supported CEL. Appeals to boys and girls (I designed it with a set of mainly S4 boys) and it worked really well. Pupils were very engaged in the film and the discussions around key moments.

Developing skills in word choice and sentence structures/patterns. Have used these in S2 and S3 middle ability classes to build reading skills, as well as National 4.
