There is a variety of activities starting with very simple phonics activities for lower abilities. The activities get more advanced for use throughout the school year.

How to use this product:
This product is designed to help children learn how to write an informational text, non fiction text or non chronological text.
It includes a set of activities for them to complete before writing their own text.
Activity 1:
Identify title, subtitles, diagram and caption.
Students read the text.
Students can write a suitable title to match the text.
They can then write suitable subtitles, draw a suitable diagram and write a caption to go with the diagram.
Activity 2:
Identify title, subtitles, diagram, caption, conclusion and key facts/words.
Students read the text and highlight the above features.
Activity 3:
Identify title, subtitles, diagrams, captions, concluding section.
Students cut out the parts of an information text and stick them back together in the correct order.

Cut out and laminate the key features of an information text bookmark. Students can keep these and refer to them when needed.
Key features checklist. Give each student a checklist for them to refer to and ensure they have included the key features. They can tick them off as they include them.
