Following group and class discussion of each reading focus, model responses and a guided annotation of Macbeth's first soliloquy ('Two truths are told') are used to clarify and extend pupils understanding of Shakespeare's ideas, methods and contextual influences. A closing discussion focusing on the 'borrowed robes' motif takes advantage of an opportunity to discuss the symbolism of clothing and uniform in the modern day whilst highlighting Shakespeare's use of recurring symbolism.
