A 1 - 2 week unit of lessons exploring Dickens presentation of Scrooge as a redeemed character in A Christmas Carol. Focussed on a mock exam question. The unit aims to prepare pupils for the summer examinations covering close and critical interpretation and analysis skills using staggered (differentiated) model response paragraphs (level 4 through to level 6 of the marking criteria) with highlighting and annotation techniques (fully animated) to enable pupils to understand the GCSE English Literature marking criteria and assessment objectives before practising developing their own paragraphs using this knowledge.
The unit then moves on to expand pupils thinking to explore the task in response to the whole novel. By modelling and supporting pupils with whole response planning techniques, which will be crucial to success in the summer examination, this rigorous unit will develop pupils knowledge and understanding of their 19th Century Novel, A Christmas Carol, and develop their exam response skills for the Literature elements of the course in general.
