Introduction to Books and Reading Bundle (ESOL/ESL/EAL/EFL)

3 Resources
This is the perfect bundle to introduce the library at your school or college and encourage learners to start reading on a regular basis. These resources allow learners to identify the English terms for different parts of books, get to know their school/college/local library and then set about a regular reading habit recording their reading and reviewing what they read. Designed for ESOL learners this is a resource I use every year to ensure learners get into the habit of reading in English in order to progress their language skills.

Past Simple - Verb 'to be' Board Game (ESOL, EFL, EAL, ESL)

(0)
Fun board game for learners to play to practise their knowledge of the past simple verb 'to be'. This notoriously tricky part of tense can be practised over and over in a fun board game. Just print double sided in either a4 or a3 and laminate for longevity if needed, all you need is a set of dice and some counters (although I've got learners to make their own counters and dice in the past). This is a resource I use year after year to provide valuable practice of the tense and liven up lessons. Lesson resources for an ESOL lesson looking at festivals and the contemporary traditions of Christmas. Focusing specifically on using present and past tenses to describe festivals and Christmas. Questionnaire - Resource/worksheet to allow learners to practice asking questions about festivals and produce writing and speaking in the present and past tense. Reading and writing activity - Worksheet/reading text about someones experience of Christmas, what they do every year, last year and this year. Models different tenses and asks learners to highlight the verbs and tenses then write their own piece of writing about a festival they celebrate.

New Vocabulary Worksheet

A new vocabulary worksheet that can be given to students to record new words on. There is space for the word, meaning, the word in a sentence, synonyms and a 'draw it' space for learners to illustrate the word to aid their memory or even add a translation. I use this with ESOL students but it could be used with any learner who needs to record and remember new vocabulary.
