I use this as a bank of worksheets to keep refreshing their understanding of the topic. When it comes to their exams students can print these off for revision. The lesson has got a lot of information to deliver but is broke up with questions to pose to students to assess understanding. The lesson then looks at how the US, UN and Soviet Union official officially responded to the invasion and students looking at the UN resolution, Truman’s speech and a transcript of the soviet radio broadcast. A lesson in a SOW intended for a three year GCSE looking at the AQA: America 1920 -1973. Students investigate the inequalities created during the American Boom, students look at the rural experience, failing industries, farming industry, native Americans, black Americans etc. There is a GCSE question included with sentence starters for the less able and challenge tasks to stretch the top end.

A number of Key words for AQA France in Revolution. All the key words have images to help prompt students. These are great for revision. I print them so that 8 are on 1 page so they are smaller. Then laminate Following tasks can be completed with them: - Students have to define key words given to them - Students have to group key words that link together -Students can write definitions on the back and test each other. - Give a table the whole pack and time them whilst sorting them into groups of defining them. - Students create a ven diagram and group the words that are to do with each war and words that are to do with both.

A Year 7 Lesson that compares Roman Britain and the Iron Age, comes with writing frames for a GCSE styled question. Lessons have challenge tasks and scope for group and solo work.

This lesson is aimed at looking at how the monarchy’s power changed under Henry II. Students do a murder mystery activity looking at different sources about Thomas Becket’s murder and look at how the event challenged the power of the crown. This lesson works well after studying how William kept control. There is a GCSE styled question with sentence starters for the less able. There are challenge tasks to stretch the top end. Print off the evidence pack and either put it in an envelope or plastic wallet share them out between groups/tables. Make it a competition for students to work out the events of what happened.

This lesson introduces students to key themes in Medieval Europe. Students work in groups investigating warfare, religion, towns, medicine and law and order. There is a GCSE styled question, with sentence starter for less able, challenge tasks to stretch the top end. There is a model answer as well where students can either assess and use to edit their work. The lesson also has a literacy focus where students have to correct literacy mistakes in the model paragraph.

The America topic has been divided up into each decade with a timeline of key events and key statistics for each, as well as a separate one for Women’s liberation and Civil Rights. I use these for recap tasks where students complete what they know and use these to DIRT and improve their answer. I have also printed of a couple and laminated and key changed together for students to take home for revision purposes.

The First lesson in a SOW intended for a three year GCSE looking at the AQA: America 1920 -1973, students through the main task investigate what America was like at the beginning of the 20th century, what problems they faced, how the government worked, what parts of America believed what and did what. The idea of this lesson is to introduce them to some key terms that will come up and give them a basic understanding. There is also a model answer for students to evaluate as a class or on their own. There is also a Homework activity include to get students to independently research a state in the 1920’s.

This lesson looks at Kennedy’s and Johnson’s policies to create a New Frontier and Great Society, students look at what they did and how it helped differed aspects of America. A year 7 lesson that looks at how useful a source can be. It focuses on one source and builds upon the previous Boudicca lesson. Students can work through it as a class or on their own depending on their ability. It culminates in a GCSE styled question with a writing frame to help students.

Aimed at Year 8: This lesson is an interactive lesson that gets students to investigate the Victorian Home. The lesson gets students to choose a room by clicking on parts of the house and its takes them inside the room with pictures and information. This works work in a computer room where students can make their way through it at their own pace. However, I’ve done it in a normal classroom and its worked just as well. There is a worksheet for them to complete, though many in my class made notes on their own. There is also a writing frame for the question at the end for those that need help with writing.
