There is a source activity where they can do some solo or paired work, then come back together as a class. There are challenge tasks to stretch the top end as well.

This lesson looks at the interpretations of Saladin, was he a cruel villain or a brilliant leader. Students read through the facts on the board or you can print of the sheet. Students then sort the information into a Venn diagram or they colour the sheet in. Students then use this information to have a go at answer 3 GCSE styled source questions. There are sentence starters included for each of the questions.

A lesson in a SOW intended for a three year GCSE looking at the AQA: America 1920 -1973. Students look at the causes of the economic boom in America. Students use a card sort to rank the causes of the boom. There is a GCSE question included with sentence starters for the less able and challenge tasks to stretch the top end. There is also a model answer for students to evaluate as a class or on their own. There is also a writing frame for students if they need it.

There are a a few sources including speeches, news reports and quotes for students can analyse to build up the picture as well. Students compare this with the early non violent direct action. Students can plan a GCSE styled question.

Choose which one would best fit your class A lesson that recaps the methods William used to keep control, culminating in students answering a GCSE style question about which method was the most important to William’s reign over England.
