This little presentation introduces Cartoon Story Maker. A great little application made by the Victorian State Government. The entire presentation was made using it and the first link shows you the end result it saves. The other link is to download the software for yourself. (Requires Adobe Flash to use)

This lesson shows how professionals make slides that are consistently excellent via the use of Master Slides. It includes a lesson plan, videos examples of how to layout Slide Masters and a couple of links to Youtube if you don't know how to use this feature of MS Office. This technique is very useful for the Edexcel GCSE and as a general skill in KS3.

This little platform game uses the least code, I could possibly get away with. Nice for newbies to code a 'Mario' style game. Also my students tell me its actually quite a challenging little game. Easy coding doesn't necessarily mean an easy game...

This project is designed to help students to think about the safe use of Social Networking sites in the guise of designing a leaflet for parents. Very useful, especially for year 9's who believe that they already know it all. Once made, sometimes the students create quality projects that are worth sharing with the parents. This project does NOT require any direct access to Social Networking sites, so is useful for schools who block Facebook etc.

Fun little tutorial to teach all the things pupils want to do in Scratch, move, baddies and directional lasers. The videos are silent and the link is to the finished game on the Scratch Website. However most importantly it gives students the basic code to do their own ideas...

This is a complete Web Design module that can be used in Keystage 3 or as a refresher in Keystage 4. It uses the free software, Kompozer which is a WYSIWYG designer but enables you to see the code at a glance. In the module students design a Web Safety site, helping them to understand how to use the web safely. There are links to the software, the sample site and the planning lesson. (Videos are silent) Please be warned that students have made Internet safety disclosures during these lessons. Be prepared.

Annoyingly there is not one in the back of the students book, so I’ve tried to create this one for students folders. This is a simple glossary for the Edexcel GCSE ICT. It can be used as a lookup tool for students, to ensure that students have the appropriate vocabulary and to create other resources. This can either be done as an ICT exercise to create the spreadsheet and/or database of cards or as an English exercise to encourage KS2 students or weaker KS3 students to create cards for a new roleplaying game.

A lot of students don't know why spreadsheets are important and this little set of cut out cards shows how spreadsheets can be helpful to people.

This Slideshow teaches students to use Master Slides and backgrounds effectively.

This lesson shows students how to do effective slide builds for presentations. This is an important skill when presenting slide shows to slowly reveal information and keep the audience interested. This could also be used in English as part of their Speaking tasks.

This game is great as Plenary to the Data Protection Act or as a starter to remind students of the act. Hope you enjoy it.

This little spreadsheet exercise helps students to know where cells are and they then colour them into make a Santa. This is ideal for low-level KS3 students or KS2 students to help them map cells to places on a spreadsheet. (I still can't believe how quiet it kept the year 8's whilst they did it.)

This Word table introduces students to Open Source software and asks why schools are still prepared to pay for commercial software? It is useful for familiarising students and teachers to software types, what is available for free and what benefits a school gets from commercial software.

This little tutorial shows you how to make a Gantt chart using the free software GanttProject. It's a lot easier to introduce project management concepts when they don't have to be bogged down with the complex Maths involved or use software that's not really designed to do it.

We used the Lego Mindstorms Robots for this, but you could use any Turtle or robot to compete in an Olympics. Simply put, we got students from neighbouring Primary Schools to come in and compete for the honour of winning the Robo Olympics.
