A whole school secular assembly lasting eleven minutes long for secondary school age, about the Voyager spacecraft as a means to discuss & celebrate equality, diversity and humanity. This version finishes with a Christmas theme which can be modified easily to suit any time of the year. It includes a video clip lasting just over four minutes and can be omitted to reduce the overall length.

Assembly on harvest or food production & inequality / poverty

Key words: Harvest, food, sustenance, history, human rights, global community, diversity, mass production, environmental impact, carbon footprint, food poverty. This assembly could be whole school (secondary age) or used for whole classes or years and can be modified in a number of ways, it doesn’t have to be harvest specific though focuses on several international examples of communities celebrating harvest / food near the beginning. It then moves on to the mass production of food and its impact before focusing on food poverty, use of food banks and the way that food poverty is not just a third world issue. Other tweaks are suggested too. It comes with a slide show and notes and lasts approx ten minutes.
